About

Emma Javits, LPCC

A Pasadena-based therapist working at the meeting point of depth psychology, parts work and the body.

Background

Training, and the road here

I am a registered California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #11680) based in Pasadena. Prior to receiving my master's degrees in Psychology & Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, I earned my bachelor's degree from Boston University in Psychology.

I have clinical experience in eating disorder treatment, childhood and relational trauma, and LGBTQ+ affirmative care. I have formal training in Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Modern Psychoanalysis. I am currently completing a 2 year program at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.

In addition to my clinical work, I have worked in media, fine art, and marketing — experience that shapes how I sit with artists and ambitious professionals in the room.

My approach

Warm, direct and creative

In session, I weave together depth psychology, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and nervous system regulation tools to soothe, understand, and integrate your inner world with your ideal lifestyle and relationships. My approach is warm, direct, and creative as we work through both past and present experiences to achieve lasting change.

Internal Family Systems
Formal training in IFS, working with the protective and wounded parts that organize how we move through the world.
EMDR
Formal training in EMDR for processing childhood and relational trauma held in memory and body.
Modern Psychoanalysis
Currently completing a two-year program at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.

In the room

Image as a way in

Hilma af Klint painted the inner life long before there was language for much of it. Her work sits alongside how I practice: attending to the symbols, images and sensations that arrive before explanation does, and giving them room enough to be understood.
